Tolerance as a Personal Story

The lecture was held to mark the International Day of Tolerance. About fifty participants were asked how they practiced tolerance in their daily lives.

  • Which differences have been accepted? Which not? Why?
  • Are they scared or curious when they meet someone different?
  • What beliefs and values they do not want to give up?
  • What beliefs and values are they willing to examine?
  • What is the difference between tolerance and passive acceptance?

The vivid discussion demonstrated how important tolerance is for mutual coexistence and cooperation. The lecture was held on occasion of the World Tolerance Day on November 11, 2010 in cooperation with the Family Centre of Požega-Slavonian County.
